Social network Blockpress launches on Bitcoin Cash blockchain

A new on-chain social network based on Bitcoin Cash blockchain was launched this week. Blockpress allows people to create, share and, connect with each other without the involvement of intermediaries. The application, according to its team, has already shown great prospects despite still being in the testing phase.

The new platform resembles Memo, an on-chain social network built on Bitcoin Cash. Memo was launched on April 15 and has gained followers in among members of the Bitcoin Cash community.

A test drive by news.bitcoin.com‘s Jamie Redman showed Blockpress is more user-friendly compared to Memo. Despite having a graphics interface that resembles Twitter’s profile page, Blockpress works and operates differently. According to the team, there are plans to integrating the inter-planetary file system (IPFS) in the Blockpress platform very soon.

Creating an account on the platform is simple and will take one a few minutes to complete a profie. One is required to add their name, set a cover photo for their profile and set an avatar. One also needs to deposit Bitcoin Cash funds in their Blockpress accounts. On the platform itself, users can post a maximum of 70-characters including emojis. There are plans to add the maximum allowed characters to 220 by May 15. Currently, users are not able to add images or any other advanced features. Being a blockchian-based technology, every piece of information posted on Blockpress will be stored on the Bitcoin Cash network.

In the last couple of months, there has been a lot going on in the Bitcoin Cash community. In the more than eight months since Bitcoin BCH was created, the community has seen increasing development activity that coincided with the rapid development in the technical infrastructure underpinning BCH—the true remaining Bitcoin as envisioned by the Satoshi Nakamoto whitepaper. Bitcoin Cash is scheduled to go through a second capacity upgrade on May 15, which will increase its block size to 32MB and also re-activate smart scripting capabilities that were in the original white paper.

Note: Tokens on the Bitcoin Core (segwit) Chain are Referred to as BTC coins. Bitcoin Cash (BCH) is today the only Bitcoin implementation that follows Satoshi Nakamoto’s original whitepaper for Peer to Peer Electronic Cash. Bitcoin BCH is the only major public blockchain that maintains the original vision for Bitcoin as fast, frictionless, electronic cash.
